Malachite is obtained through either mining or prospecting, or surfing the AH.
It’s one of the first gems you’ll get in the game, and you’ll be needing them to level up your Jewelcrafting, or the other professions noted at the bottom of this page.
I don’t normally sell these gems on their own, but rather craft things to sell for a higher price on the AH. Then again, depending on the gem, it’s always wise to check first.
★ Profession Required: Jewelcrafting
★ Best Serves: Blacksmithing, Engineering, Jewelcrafting
How to obtain:
There aren’t many ways to gather gems in their uncut form, therefore leaves it to you to decide what method you think is best. These ways are the following:
(a) prospecting ore and turning said ore into gems,
(b) looking for the gems on the AH, which can be expensive, depending on the gem, or
(c) farming a zone for ore, which should be your last choice, unless you need other farmed material.
Prospecting:
- Prospecting 200 Copper Ore net me 22 Malachite.
Farming:
Farm Copper Ore
I farmed my route for Darkshore and came up with this:
- It took me 30 minutes to obtain 5 Malachite.
